gaming Systems

The Opaline Dice System is built as a light framework to support collaborative storytelling, not control it. Roleplay always comes first~dice are entirely optional and only used when both players agree or when clarity is needed. At its core, the system uses a simple 1d20 roll combined with attributes, racial modifiers, and optional gifts to gently guide outcomes without dictating them. There is no rigid damage system; instead, results are interpreted through writing, preserving narrative freedom while still offering structure when tension or conflict arises.

 

Mechanically, the system emphasizes balance, consent, and immersion. Attributes are flexible, gifts are limited and purpose-bound, and even combat unfolds as a back-and-forth exchange of posts rather than a numbers-driven contest. Progression is earned through consistent, meaningful roleplay rather than grinding, with Storytellers acting as quiet arbiters to maintain fairness and tone. Overall, the spirit of the system is to enhance drama, consequence, and creativity~giving players just enough structure to support the story without ever overshadowing it.
