Business & Residential Rentals

Welcome to Opaline.
 

This document outlines the expectations, requirements, costs, and enforcement procedures for business ownership, residential rentals, vehicles, and land use within the sim. These policies exist to maintain immersion, aesthetic cohesion, and a healthy, active roleplay environment.

All participants are expected to read and understand this handbook.
“I didn’t know” is not an acceptable defense.

1. Eligibility Requirements

To own a business, rent a residence, or maintain long-term land use in Opaline, players must:

• Be a registered and regularly active member of the community
   

• Maintain good OOC standing with sim administration and fellow players
   

• Participate consistently in roleplay
   

• Respect Opaline’s lore, aesthetic, tone, and community standards
   

Inactivity, repeated OOC issues, or failure to contribute meaningfully to the sim may result in revocation of rental privileges, business ownership, or reassignment of property.

All businesses, residences, vehicles, and land use within Opaline are subject to rental fees and usage costs as outlined in this handbook.

2. Business Ownership

2.1 Types of Businesses

​

Characters may own:

• Player-owned businesses based on original IC concepts
   

• Sim-owned (NPC) businesses that may be taken over through approved IC play
   

All businesses must align with Opaline’s tone, setting, and lore.
Ownership is a privilege, not a right, and may be revoked for inactivity or violations.

 

2.2 Pre-Furnished & Modified Spaces

Some business locations are pre-furnished to maintain sim cohesion.

• Additional décor may be added via CasperLet prim rentals at the location
   

• All added items must be approved by Munchie Bellic or Alyx Diavolo after placement
   

• Items that are off-theme, lag-heavy, disruptive, or immersion-breaking may be removed without refund
   

 

2.3 Claiming a Business

To claim a business:

1. Locate an available building marked with a green illuminated CasperLet mailbox, or
    

2. Select an available property via the website and teleport using the provided link
    

3. Pay the rental box
    

4. Join the Opaline Land Group
    

If you have an original business concept and identify an unassigned building, contact Munchie Bellic or Alyx Diavolo for approval before setup.

 

2.4 Business Activity Expectations

Business owners are expected to:

• Maintain regular IC presence
   

• Keep the business active, relevant, and staffed
   

• Engage the community through RP, scenes, or events
   

Extended inactivity may result in loss of ownership.

 

3. Residential Rentals

3.1 Availability & Claiming

Homes and apartments with green CasperLet rental boxes are available.

To secure a residence:

1. Locate a green rental box
    

2. Contact Munchie Bellic to have the box activated
    

3. Rentals are issued in 1–4 week increments
    

 

3.2 Residential Activity Expectations

Residents must:

• Remain active within the sim
   

• Use their residence as part of their character’s story
   

• Maintain immersion and respect neighboring properties
   

Long-term inactivity may result in reassignment of the rental.

 

3.3 Furnishing, Vehicles & Prim Use

Tenants may:

• Furnish spaces with items that fit Opaline’s aesthetic
   

• Request approval from Munchie or Alyx for personalized décor
   

• Request staff-decorated spaces for the cost of the rental alone
  (Ideal for returning players or those without modern furnishings)
   

Lag-heavy, scripted, or theme-breaking items may be removed.

Vehicles

Unattended vehicles will be returned after 1 hour and may incur a parking citation.

3.4 Shared Spaces

Residents must respect:

• Communal areas
   

• Neighboring rentals
   

• The overall atmosphere of the sim
   

No griefing, excessive particles, sound spam, or disruptive objects. ABSOLUTELY NO GESTURES! 

 

4. Group Setup & Role Tags

Once approved for a business or residence:

• You may join the official Opaline group or create a custom one
   

• Custom groups must include {O} in the title
   

  • Example: {O} Quick-E Mart
     

• Role tags must begin with {O}
   

• Keep roles minimal and clear
   

Tags are public-facing representations of your character or business.

 

5. Events

Events are encouraged but not mandatory.

Businesses and residents may host:

• IC gatherings
   

• Story-driven scenes
   

• Business or neighborhood RP
   

For large-scale events:

• Coordinate with staff
   

• Avoid scheduling conflicts
   

• Request support if needed
   

Events should enhance immersion and match Opaline’s tone.

 

6. Advertising

Advertising is permitted for:

• Businesses
   

• IC events
   

• Household or community RP
   

• Story hooks
   

Approved locations:

• Opaline Roleplay in-world group
   

• Discord advertisement channel
   

Advertising should remain immersive and IC-appropriate.

 

7. Compliance & Enforcement

Failure to comply with this handbook may result in:

• Removal of unapproved décor
   

• Revocation of business ownership or rental
   

• Administrative action for repeated or serious violations
   

Staff decisions are final.
These policies exist to protect sim cohesion, fairness, and community health.
