Society and Locations

The Harpies

The Harpies serve as the eyes and ears of Kindred society. They gather information, observe the conduct of Kindred, maintain social memory, and possess a keen understanding of the relationships, favors, and reputations that shape the Domain.

Though they hold no direct authority over the laws of the Domain, wise Kindred do not underestimate the influence of a Harpy. Information, once learned, is seldom forgotten, and reputations are often made or broken by what the Harpies know.

The office of Harpy exists to preserve awareness, accountability, and communication within Kindred society.

Vessels

Vessels are willing mortal participants who provide vitae to Kindred through consensual feeding arrangements.

While they are not members of Kindred society and are not entrusted with its deepest secrets, they often serve valuable roles within the Domain. Their contributions may include assisting with feeding arrangements, providing information, and supporting approved Kindred establishments.

Vessels under the protection of the Domain shall be treated with dignity and respect. Abuse, coercion, or reckless endangerment of those under Domain protection may result in disciplinary action.

Vessels possess no inherent rights to Kindred knowledge, offices, or restricted areas and remain subject to the limitations imposed by Domain authority.

The Camarilla

The Camarilla is a centuries-old society and governing structure of the Kindred. Though individual Domains may differ in customs and leadership, the Camarilla exists to preserve Kindred society through order, tradition, and the protection of the Veil.

The Camarilla teaches that secrecy is survival. Through its Traditions, customs, and systems of accountability, it seeks to prevent the chaos and recklessness that have historically led to the destruction of Kindred and entire Domains.

The Camarilla is not a kingdom in the traditional sense, nor does it require friendship or agreement among its members. Rather, it is a society built upon mutual necessity. Kindred may disagree, compete, or even despise one another, yet all benefit from the preservation of the Veil and the continued stability of their Domain.

Within Opaline, the Camarilla provides the structure through which Kindred society is organized and governed. Offices such as the Primogen, Harpies, Keepers, and other appointed officials exist to maintain order, administer the Traditions, and safeguard the interests of the Domain.

To many Kindred, the Camarilla is not merely an organization. It is the reason Kindred civilization continues to endure.

The Sabbat

The Sabbat are a militant and extremist sect of Kindred who reject many Camarilla traditions and often embrace a far more brutal philosophy of unlife.

They are regarded by the Camarilla as dangerous adversaries whose methods frequently threaten both Kindred society and the preservation of the Veil.

The Sabbat are not recognized members of the Camarilla and are not available as playable characters within the Domain of Opaline.

Elysium

Elysium is both a place and a principle. It is the understanding that there must exist moments and spaces where conflict is set aside and Kindred may gather without fear of violence, disruption, or personal vendettas.

Whether held within a grand manor, an ancient church, a private residence, or another appointed location, Elysium is defined not by walls or furnishings but by conduct and purpose.

Within Elysium, the Traditions remain in full effect and standards of behavior are elevated even further. Violence, unauthorized feeding, intimidation, and disturbances are forbidden. Kindred are expected to conduct themselves with dignity, restraint, and respect for the sanctity of the gathering.

Elysium serves many purposes. It is a place of diplomacy, introductions, announcements, education, and community. It is where disputes may be discussed peacefully, where newcomers are formally presented to the Domain, and where the affairs of Kindred society can proceed in relative safety.

Above all else, Elysium represents a shared understanding: no matter one's rivalries, ambitions, or grievances, there must remain places where civility prevails over chaos.

Xibalba Hidden Chamber

Primary Caretaker - Keeper of Elysium

Xibalba serves as the Domain's hidden social establishment and gathering place. It exists as a place of fellowship, discussion, recreation, and approved feeding.

Vessels may be present within Xibalba. For the protection of the Veil, Vessels shall be escorted into and out of the establishment under blindfold and shall never knowingly possess knowledge of its location or means of access.

Minor disputes, social disagreements, and approved feeding arrangements are permitted within Xibalba. Dress and attire are left largely to personal preference, provided conduct does not endanger the Veil or disrupt the establishment.

The Keeper is entrusted with maintaining order, preserving the sanctity of these establishments, enforcing the Six Traditions and the Rite of Domain within their boundaries, and taking reasonable action necessary to safeguard the Veil and the well-being of those under Domain protection.

Blood Connection (Blood Bank)

The Blood Connection is the Domain's regulated system for approved feeding arrangements and the administration of registered Vessels. Its purpose is to ensure that the needs of the Kindred are met while preserving the Veil and safeguarding all persons under Domain protection.

The Blood Connection shall be overseen by an appointed administrator, preferably a Harpy, who serves at the pleasure of the Primogen and exercises authority delegated by the Camarilla.

The administrator is responsible for:

• Maintaining records of registered Vessels and approved feeding arrangements.
• Ensuring the health, safety, and dignity of all registered Vessels.
• Facilitating introductions between Kindred and registered Vessels when appropriate.
• Investigating concerns or violations occurring within the Blood Connection.
• Maintaining absolute discretion and preserving the Veil in all matters.

All Veil restrictions remain in full effect within the Blood Connection. Feeding shall be conducted responsibly and without unnecessary harm, coercion, spectacle, or conduct that risks exposing the existence of the Kindred.

Abuse of the Blood Connection, mistreatment of registered Vessels, or conduct that endangers the Veil may result in disciplinary action by the Primogen and the Camarilla.
